Police are looking for whoever stabbed a man Monday morning near Rose Park, authorities said. The wounded man was hospitalized and is expected to survive, police said.

Police learned of the stabbing when officers were dispatched at about 11:30 a.m. to 7th Street and Nebraska Avenue to assist the Long Beach Fire Department with a call, according to authorities.

The victim told officers that he had been “struck with an unknown object, by an unknown suspect,” police spokeswoman Nancy Pratt said in an email.

He had been stabbed in the upper body, police said, but the motive is unknown.
