Long Beach police are investigating a possible gang-related stabbing that left one man injured in the Poly High neighborhood of the city Monday morning, authorities said.

According to officials, the stabbing happened on Monday, September 28, near 20th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue after the victim got into a dispute with a group of male subjects, Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) spokesperson Marlene Arrona said.

The victim and three other people then left in a vehicle to a local hospital but were involved in a traffic collision on East Hill Street and Myrtle Avenue, where police responded at about 11:10AM.

A preliminary investigation found that the driver lost control and crashed the vehicle and the victim and one other occupant left the scene to continue to a local hospital.

Officers then found the victim at the hospital being treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to Arrona.

Officials are investigating the incident as possibly gang-related.
