Two men were stabbed and one died in a stabbing incident in Long Beach’s Eastside neighborhood Saturday, officials announced.

According to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD), officers were dispatched at around 6:20PM on Saturday, August 6 to the area near Anaheim Street and Molino Avenue regarding a stabbing.

Upon arrival, they discovered two men—22-year-old Juan Chavez of Long Beach and an 18-year-old from Long Beach—who appeared to have been stabbed and were transported to a local hospital.

Chavez sustained an injury to the lower body and was later pronounced deceased. The 18-year-old subject sustained an injury to the upper body and was listed in stable condition.

The incident is being investigated as possibly gang-related, according to the LBPD.
