Pizza delivery man shot early Saturday morning in Belmont Heights

Police are investigating the shooting of a man shortly before 2:30 a.m., Saturday morning near 7th Street and Redondo Avenue, authorities said.

“The preliminary investigation indicates the shooting may have occurred at another location nearby and the victim drove away, then collided with a parked vehicle in the area of 7th and Redondo,” police spokeswoman Arantxa Chavarria said.

The man was shot multiple times in his upper torso, police said, and transported to a local hospital by Long Beach Fire Department.

An employee at the Redondo Avenue Domino’s Pizza confirmed that the victim was one of their drivers. He said the driver is in stable condition, but may require surgery.

Police have not located a crime scene or suspect yet, but gang detectives responded to the scene and are still investigating, she said.
