A bomb squad from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was called out to disarm the device, police spokeswoman Shaunna Dandoy said. They determined shortly before 6 p.m. that the device was non-explosive, she said.

The device was found in the home police were serving the warrant at about 1:20 p.m. in the 1400 block of Cherry Avenue, she said.

These were the street closures:

  • East 14th Street between Rose Avenue and Gardenia Avenue
  • East 15th Street between Rose Avenue and Gardenia Avenue

Police evacuated multiple homes and closed the area until about 6 p.m.
