Long Beach police are investigating after a man showed up at a local hospital with a non-life threatening stab wound to his upper body.

Officers arrived at the hospital at about 9:20 Tuesday night after getting a report about an assault with a weapon, police spokeswoman Shaunna Dandoy said.

Dandoy said preliminary information showed the victim was in an “altercation” with a group of men in the area of West Parade Street and Canal Avenue in West Long Beach, which resulted in the victim getting stabbed.

It’s unclear what the nature of the altercation was or if the victim was alone at the time.

Officers could not find a crime scene, but they are still investigating, she said.
