Long Beach police briefly chased a driver in a stolen car until he stopped near Cesar E. Chavez Park late Friday afternoon.

At about 4:50 p.m. officers saw a reported stolen vehicle being driven near Cedar Avenue and 10th Street, according to Long Beach Police Department Sgt. James Richardson.

“A marked black-and-white police car attempted a stop of the vehicle and the driver failed to stop,” Richardson said in an email.

A two-minute pursuit took place, ending at Chester Place and Fairbanks Avenue where the driver, identified only as a male adult, was taken into custody.

The driver will be booked for felony evading and for driving a stolen vehicle, according to Richardson.
