A homeless woman who allegedly pointed a knife at a juvenile at Long Beach’s Recreation Park Sunday afternoon was arrested by police who used a stun gun along with other “intermediate force options” when she became uncooperative, authorities said.

Police responded to Recreation Park at 1:15PM on Sunday, October 23 regarding a homeless woman who “pointed a knife at a juvenile,” according to Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) spokesman Sgt. Brad Johnson.

Once locating the suspect, police found her to be uncooperative with initial commands.

“Officers contained the suspect, patiently created a plan and showed great restraint in a very dangerous situation,” Johnson said. “The plan led to the utilization of intermediate force options, that included rubber baton rounds and electrical conducted weapon, to take the suspect into custody.”

No officers were injured, but the suspect sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital where she was treated and then booked at Long Beach Jail with a $50,000 bail, Johnson said.

The suspect was identified as 36-year-old transient Sabrina Ristich. She was booked for assault with a deadly weapon, making terrorizing threats, possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics paraphernalia.

The investigation remains ongoing.
