A man was hit in the torso by gunfire late Saturday morning in a possible gang-related shooting, authorities said.

Officers received a call shortly before 11:30 a.m. regarding an assault with a deadly weapon in the area of 68th Way and Muriel Avenue in North Long Beach near Compton College.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police spokeswoman Nancy Pratt said in an email.

The police have not located any suspects and the motive is not known. The police are investigating the shooting as possibly gang-related.
