An East Long Beach street was blocked off Wednesday afternoon as police searched for a burglary suspect.

Long Beach Police Department officers responded to the scene on the 2700 block of Tulane at about 12:08PM in regard to a residential burglary in progress, said LBPD spokeswoman Marlene Arrona.

The calling party told police that someone had just burglarized his home and the suspect fled the area, Arrona said.

“We’re not sure yet if the resident was home or came home and interuppted the suspect,” Arrona said. “That information is not provided in the call at this time.”

Officers set up a perimeter around the area and used a Fox helicopter and K-9 unit to search for the suspect, but were unsuccessful.

No one was arrested, Arrona said, and the investigation is ongoing. No other information was available. We will update the story as more information becomes available.
