Police said a man was hospitalized after he was shot outside a home in North Long Beach Monday night, but investigators are still trying to determine why.

It happened about 8:15 p.m. on East Plymouth Street near Pine Avenue, Long Beach police spokeswoman Jennifer De Prez said.

The man was shot in the torso, Lt. Byron Blair said, adding that the man was hospitalized and displaying stable vital signs. The wounds didn’t appear to be life-threatening, De Prez said.

Officers found bullet casings at the scene, but they don’t have any information yet on a suspect or possible motive, De Prez said.

Detectives are still investigating.
