A Signal Hill man was sentenced Tuesday to 16 years in state prison for raping two women in Long Beach in 2014, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

In addition to his prison sentence, David Faavale Tautolo, 33, was ordered to register as a lifetime sex offender and to stay away from the victims for 10 years. He pleaded no contest to two counts of forcible rape on October 13, 2015.

Prosecutors said on January 14, 2014, Tautolo grabbed and forced the first woman into his car where he then raped her. The victim was at a bus station.

On October 16, 2014 Tautolo picked up the second victim in his car, took her to an alley and raped her, according to Deputy District Attorney Safaan Ahmed who prosecuted the case.

Authorities located Tautolo the next day and arrested him in connection with the crimes, officials said.

The case was investigated by the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).
