Two shootings occurred over the weekend in separate locations in Long Beach, with one following an armed robbery at a gas station in Paramount and Candlewood and the second resulting in the hospitalization of two victims with gunshot wounds, Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officials said.

Friday, June 17

According to LBPD Spokeswoman Nancy Pratt, officers were dispatched to Orizaba and 65th Street regarding a no-hit shooting on Friday at 6:05PM.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the shooting was related to a robbery that occurred in the area of Paramount and Candlewood.

According to Pratt, a male adult victim was getting gas in the area when he was approached by two armed suspects who proceeded to rob him of his jewelry and cash.

The robbery suspects immediately fled and the victim followed in his car, chasing the suspects’ vehicle to Orizaba and 65th Street. The two suspects then stopped, exited their vehicle and fired at the victim, but the victim was not struck, according to the LBPD.

The suspects remain at large and no information is available at this time, said Pratt. The incident is being investigated as possibly gang-related.
