A man led deputies on a foot chase in West Long Beach after kicking out the window of a sheriff’s cruiser around 1 p.m. today, Sgt. Richard Torres of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.

In a video taken by a witness, the suspect can be seen climbing out of a back passenger window of the cruiser parked in a Fantastic Burgers parking lot near Wardlow Road and Santa Fe Avenue.

The video showed the suspect run behind the cruiser as a deputy tried to catch him. He then ran across Santa Fe toward Wardlow as the deputy chased him on foot and another cruiser followed.

Few details were immediately available, but Torres confirmed that the suspect is back in custody. The man was ultimately booked into jail on suspicion of vehicle theft, but Torres could not provide the suspect’s name or any more info.
