A video from the inside of a Long Beach Yellow Cab taxi car has been released, showing the attempted robbery of the car’s driver by an unknown young female and prompting the Long Beach Police Department to request help from the public in identifying the suspect.

On September 26 in the early morning hours, a Yellow Cab driver had picked up a woman near the corner of 7th St. and Termino Avenue. Once they arrived at the corner of 14th St. and Newport Avenue, the suspect reached through the car’s middle divider and threatened the driver with a box cutter while demanding $50.

The driver then caught the suspect’s wrist and began questioning the suspect’s behavior, even insinuating that he knew her family. She continued to press for money, informing the driver that she had “people waiting around here” and to “not do anything stupid.”

After repeating, “If you do anything stupid…” numerous times, the suspect then begins to attack the driver with a hammer. The driver accelerated forward, slamming into a parked car. According to the LBPD, the suspect then left the vehicle and fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a black female, estimated to be 20- to 25-years-old.
