A woman was shot during a possible gang-related shooting near Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Long Beach Monday evening, authorities said.

Officers originally responded to the 1900 block of Lemon Avenue on Monday, February 22 at 6:02PM regarding a shots heard call, Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) spokesman Brad Johnson said.

Upon arrival, police found a vehicle with bullet holes but no victim, according to Johnson.

During their investigation, police were alerted of an adult female victim who arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound. The injury appeared to be non-life threatening, Johnson said.

Officials believe the incident could be gang-related.

The investigation remains ongoing.
