Cal State Long Beach (CSULB) and Cerritos College renewed its partnership agreement to continue the award-winning Teacher TRAC program, which transitions students from Cerritos College to the Liberal Studies programs at CSULB.

The partnership, which has existed between the two schools for 15 years, provides students a seamless transition to earning a bachelor’s degree and preliminary multiple subject teaching credential at CSULB. These skills help the students become teachers for elementary schools in Southern California.

Through this agreement, CSULB gives first consideration for admission into its liberal studies program to Teacher TRAC transfer applicants, including those from Cerritos College, who have met the agreement criteria. It also allows students to complete the first 45 hours of required field experience through the Teacher TRAC program.

“Teacher training and support is crucial to the success of California’s recent educational reforms including the newly mandated Common Core State Standards,” said Sue Parsons, director of educational partnerships and programs at Cerritos College, in a statement. “Our partnership continues to be a local, state and national model that produces high quality teachers and leaderships.”
