The May 18 edition of the magazine Hispanic Outlook ranked California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) eighth in the nation based on the number of bachelor’s degrees awarded to Latino students, the California State University (CSU) system announced this week.
According to the study, CSULB was among eight other CSU schools to make the magazine’s top 25 list. CSULB was ranked behind CSU Fullerton (ranked fifth) and CSU Northridge (seventh), but above CSU Los Angeles (11th) and CSU San Bernardino (17).
In addition to its ranking as eighth overall in awarding bachelor’s degrees to Latino students, CSULB ranked first in its awarding of bachelor’s degrees to Latino students majoring in visual and performing arts.
According to the CSU release, Hispanic Outlook ranks the top 100 predominantly Hispanic-serving four-year colleges and universities in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, using data from the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics. This year’s edition used data from the 2013 to 2014 school year.
