Long Beach City College (LBCC) has named its Dean for the School of Career Technical Education (SCTE) by way of Madison Area Technical College’s former dean Kenneth J. Starkman.

StarkmanLBCC’s SCTE encompasses the college’s majority of career and technical education programs, which focuses on specialized industries such as law enforcement, administrative assistants, architectural design, computer networking, and a variety of other fields.

“I am excited and pleased to take on the challenges of supporting and expanding LBCC’s CTE programs,” said Starkman in a press release. “My goal is to support programs that are in place, while developing new programs with greater effectiveness in areas where the market is in need of qualified individuals. There is a great team already in place at LBCC to move the CTE programs to the next level and I look forward to working with faculty members, local industry and corporate partners to advance our programs.”

Beginning his educational career in the K12 system teaching middle and high school, Starkman then went on to become Wisconsin’s State Supervisor/Educational Consultant for the state’s Department of Public Education. He has spent over 15 years in the technology education field.
