Shortly after both were named one of the best schools in the nation, LBUSD’s Poly High in Long Beach and California Academy of Mathematics and Sciences (CAMS) in Carson have earned the honor of also being named one of the best high schools in California, ousting hundreds of other schools.

Screen Shot 2014-12-02 at 3.21.53 PMAccording to research by Niche, a startup which seeks to alter the way that college and high school rankings are measured, Poly sat at a lofty #99 out of 834 schools ranked while CAMS broke into the top 10.

Of areas that Poly ranked astoundingly—receiving a grade of A—included academics, student culture and diversity, teachers, and healthy & safety [grade card pictured left].

CAMS, meanwhile, received As in academics, health and safety, overall experience from parents and students, student culture and diversity, teachers, and resources/facilities.

Niche “uses data sourced from various government and public data sets, Niche’s own proprietary data, and 4,625,227 opinion-based survey responses across a variety of topics from 287,560 current students, recent alumni, and parents across the nation.”

Sitting at #1 is Granada Hills Charter High School in Los Angeles.
