Charles Rogers Photo1A 79-year-old Long Beach man with dementia who went missing two weeks ago was found dead in Compton late last week, the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) announced Friday.

Charles Wilbert Rogers’ body was found in the Compton Creek area near Del Amo Boulevard on Thursday, November 10 by Transit Police Division personnel with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department (LASD), according to an LBPD release. His death appeared to be of natural causes.

Long Beach police were notified of his death by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office on Friday, November 11.

Rogers was reported missing on Sunday, November 6, LBPD officials said. Family members said they had last seen him at his residence on the 100 block of West Dameron Street in North Long Beach last Saturday evening.

Police searched for the man and alerted local hospitals, area law enforcement, fire stations and public transportation agencies, but could not find him.

Rogers, who wore a medical alert bracelet with his name and address, went missing about eight months ago. At that time we was found in the City of Carson by sheriff’s deputies.
