From LBPOSTSPORTS.com:  We may be right in the middle of football season, but basketball is right around the corner and in case you weren’t aware, the Poly High girls basketball team is very good.  “Three straight state championships” good.  A big part of last year’s success was center Monique Oliver, who returns this year as a senior and recently committed to USC.

We’re a little late on this article, since it ran in mid-September, but it’s a great read about Oliver’s choice to join Trojan Nation and her reasons behind it.  We’ll be keeping a close eye on Oliver and the rest of the Jackrabbits as they eye a fourth State Championship this season.

Elsewhere in LBPOSTSports.com-Land, we’re torn between rooting for the Rays and former LBSU player Evan Longoria, or the Phillies and Poly High grad Chase Utley.  Columnist Ryan Thies relieves us from that painful decision with his examination of the Dodgers, entitled “Quo Vadimus,” or “Where are we going?”  Worried fans and cocky fans alike are welcome to chime in on his ramblings.

You’re a fan of Long Beach State volleyball, right?  We are too!  The 49ers host none other than Notre Dame tonight in the Pyramid at 7:00pm.  See you at the game!
