Sixty people in Long Beach were arrested last weekend in a nationwide human trafficking operation that also rescued two girls and one woman.

The Long Beach Police Department, along with 106 other agencies across the United States, participated in Operation Cross Country, a four-day operation initiated by the FBI, police said.

LBPD detectives rescued two girls, one woman and made a total of 60 arrests during the operation. Three people were arrested for human trafficking and three were arrested for pimping. The remaining 54 people were arrested for prostitution and drug-related offenses.

The FBI said in total, 168 children who had been forced into prostitution were rescued and 281 pimps were arrested, making it the largest and most successful Operation Cross Country to date.
