The Vincent Thomas Bridge will close Monday for about eight hours as runners take over the bridge for the annual Conquer The Bridge event.

The Labor Day road closures will span from the 110-Freeway to Navy Way and will last from 3 to 11 a.m.

The 5.3-mile race is in its 10th year and will begin and end in San Pedro as participants run over the bridge before returning back to the San Pedro waterfront.

Early morning traffic in or out of Long Beach’s west side will be impacted by the closure, but a representative from Caltrans said that detours would be available via Anaheim Street.

Traffic is expected to return to normal after the conclusion of the event.
