A Long Beach man died Saturday when he crashed his motorcycle on a San Diego mountain, according to California Highway Patrol (CHP) officials.

The 58-year-old unidentified victim was riding a 2006 Harley Davidson VSRCR uphill on South Grade Road from state Route 76 on Palomar Mountain when he lost control at about 4:00PM on Saturday.

The man failed to negotiate a sharp left curve, veered off the right side of the roadway and ended up down an embankment, said CHP Officer Jim Bettencourt.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved and alcohol was not considered a factor in the crash, Bettencourt said.
