Councilman Rex Richardson is kicking off a new community engagement series this week with the man behind OC’s Anti-Mall and an upcoming development in North Long Beach.

The 9th District councilman will sit down with LAB Holdings LLC creator and founder Shaheen Sadeghi Tuesday night to discuss The Canvas development on Atlantic Avenue as part of the #UpTownHall conversation series.

“#UpTownHall will give residents a chance to talk directly with those making a positive impact in our community,” said Richardson.

While private developments throughout the city have received mixed reactions along with fears of gentrification, Sadeghi previously told the Long Beach Post that he doesn’t plan to “develop something for LA or Orange County to come visit; this is for North Long Beach.”

The Canvas is one of three major developments heading for the northside.

The players behind The Uptown Commons and The Uptown previously spoke with Richardson during a Beer & Politics event at Liberation Brewing last month.

The #UpTownHall will take place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30 in the Community Room at Jordan High School, 6500 Atlantic Ave.
