A 63-year-old Signal Hill man who may have had a medical emergency was pronounced dead at a hospital after rear-ending a car in Long Beach, police said Tuesday.

The man has been identified by the coroner’s office as Walter Darocha.

The crash occurred about 7:40PM Monday, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

The man was driving a 2000 Honda Accord east on Outer Traffic Circle and rear-ended a 2009 Nissan Altima stopped in the eastbound left turn lane at Los Coyotes Diagonal.

The 32-year-old woman driving the Nissan was not injured, police said.

The Honda continued through the intersection and came to rest against the rear of 1851 Ximeno Avenue, police said.

“It’s possible the driver may have experienced a medical emergency,” police said. “However, the investigation remains ongoing.”

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash was urged to call (562) 570-7355 to speak with Long Beach police Detective David Lauro.
