Fresh from announcing her upcoming bid for Governor of California in 2010, former eBay CEO Meg Whitman will be the keynote speaker during the Long Beach Chamber California Visionaries Luncheon, at the Hyatt in Downtown Long Beach tomorrow.  The event begins at 11:30am.

Whitman, a Republican, served as the CEO of eBay from 1998 to 2008.  During that time the company grew from 30 to 15,000 employees, while revenues grew from $4 million to $8 billion annually.  Whitman had previously worked for Procter & Gamble, Bain & Company, Disney and other corporations.

“Our award-winning California Visionaries Luncheon Series attracts some of the top leaders to Long Beach each year to speak with our business community on important issues impacting our local economy,” said President and CEO of the Chamber Randy Gordon, in a release. “We are excited to host Meg Whitman because of her extensive experience as an entrepreneur and her commitment to public service,” Gordon continued.

The previous California Visionaries luncheon was held in 2007, with keynote speaker Steve Poizner, also currently running for the position of Governor as a Republican.  Anyone interested in attending the event should contact Sarah Nguyen at 562.432.7830 or [email protected].
