Long Beach gained another resident and a family gained another member early on New Year’s Day.

A baby girl named Finley was born at the BirthCare Center at Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital at 1:32AM, making Finley the first baby born in Long Beach in 2015.

She is the second child of Long Beach residents Kelly and Matthew, and weighed 7 pounds when she was born.

“We planned on having a quiet night at home,” said Kelly in a statement, adding that Finley arrived three weeks before her due date after less than three hours of labor. “We are very happy that she is a very healthy baby girl and we cannot wait to bring her home to meet her sister.”

As part of an annual tradition in Long Beach, Kelly and Matthew received a “First Baby Basket” from the hospital, complete with onesies, booties, newborn clothing, blankets, diapers and gifts from the care team at Miller Children’s.
