A source close to the Long Beach Police Department has told the Long Beach Post that as many as three raids on medical-marijuana dispensaries are expected today, and that it is believed the dispensaries are located in the Downtown area. The source also reports the LBPD aims to have all dispensaries closed down by the end of the year.

Since mid October, the LBPD has conducted well upwards of a dozen enforcement action against medpot dispensaries, which the City considers to be illegal under Long Beach Municipal Code Sec. 5.89.

The LBPD has been aided in these raids by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, the California Franchise Tax Board, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

“[T]he L.B.P.D. is strongly urging remaining dispensaries to voluntarily cease their operations,” the department recently state in a press release. “Any dispensaries that continue to operate will be targeted for closure and the business operators arrested.”
