A motorcyclist was hospitalized in grave condition after he collided with a motorist in the city’s Bluff Heights neighborhood Sunday afternoon.

Police responding at 4:15PM to the vehicle-vs-motorcycle collision at Redondo Avenue and 4th Street found the motorcyclist not breathing and witnesses conducting CPR, according to Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) spokesman Sgt. Brad Johnson.

Long Beach Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital where he is listed in grave condition, Johnson said.

Officials said the motorcyclist may have been under the influence of alcohol.

“Alcohol may have played a factor in this incident and is under further investigation,” Johnson stated.

No other injuries were reported. The driver of the vehicle was cooperating with the investigation.
