As the Gerald Desmond Bridge Replacement Project continues, temporary nightly road closures in the vicinity of Pico Avenue and Ocean Boulevard will take place starting Monday, December 14 and last through Friday, January 8. The closures are necessary to facilitate installation of falsework (temporary structures to support construction) over Pico Avenue and the on-ramp to westbound Ocean, according to the release.

The nightly closures will affect port traffic headed to Terminal Island (Piers S-T and San Pedro) as well as port traffic using Pico Avenue to travel between Piers A-D and Piers E-J, according to the release. Once the falsework is completed, set to be in place while the road deck is constructed, motorists can expect to drive under tunnel-like structures.
