Authorities say a man was rushed to the hospital in stable condition after a crane collapsed at the Port of Long Beach.

The incident was reported shortly after 1:35 p.m. Thursday at Pier T near Berth 126, according to the Long Beach Fire Department.

One victim, a man in his 40s, was taken to a hospital in stable condition, said LBFD spokesperson Brian Fisk.

A Port of Long Beach spokesperson did not disclose the size of the crane involved or any potential cause for the collapse.

Firefighters at the scene reported that a forklift was pinned underneath the crane but nobody was trapped in the wreckage.

Pier T is one of 12 piers at the port with a combined 80 berths for arriving ships.

Berth 126 is one of five locations at the port for temporary berth assignment, according to the Port of Long Beach website.
