According to Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) spokeswoman Nancy Pratt, a semi-truck initially rear-ended the other big rig at around 7:52AM, causing the original semi-truck to jackknife and strike a tan Mini Cooper. The collision immediately blocked all three lanes of traffic.
The driver of the Mini Cooper sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
A lane was quickly re-opened while officials worked to clear the scene and an investigation continued.
All three cars were towed from the scene and all lanes reopened at around 10:45AM, said Pratt.
