The Bixby Knolls intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and Bixby Road was given crosswalks painted like piano keys on Tuesday that will be instrumental in drawing more attention to pedestrians making their way across the street, increasing the area’s walkability.

The new crosswalks are thanks to Long Beach’s Public Works team, who both designed and painted them, Mayor Robert Garcia noted in his Facebook post today.

The crosswalks will connect to SteelCraft on the corner, a concept involving food, beer, waffles and more to be served out of shipping containers and set to open possibly by the month’s end

Special Events Coordinator for the Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association (BKBIA) Tokotah Ashcraft also posted a picture of the crosswalks on her Instagram, showing off a view of what they look like from a distance.

Mayor Garcia also thanked council members Robert Uranga, Al Austin and the BKBIA for their support.
