A gathering and poetry reading will be held Saturday at Harvey Milk Promenade Park and Equality Plaza in memory of late WE Labs co-founder Markus Manley, who died three years ago.

Work Evolution Laboratories officials said the event will take place at 6:00PM, honoring his life and the contributions he made to the community.

Manley, who died in Santa Barbara on March 18, 2014 at the age of 39 from complications associated with autoimmune hepatitis, was a Post 40 Under 40 winner in 2013 for his work with WE Labs and for being “one of the city’s great cultural advocates.”

WE Labs will also be hosting a workshop at its office on “Business Succession Planning,” facilitated by Long Beach-based Bolt Global Business on Thursday, March 16 at 6:30PM.

“Business succession is part of the history of Work Evolution Laboratories,” officials said in an email. “We experienced it firsthand with the unexpected tragic passing away of Co-Founder Markus Manley in 2014. The challenges we faced were above and beyond the ebbs and flows that happen with most small businesses and startups. Join us to learn how to plan ahead to avoid these issues and unnecessary headaches.”
