Though Mayor Bob Foster provided his endorsement to current Vice Mayor Robert Garcia for the upcoming mayorship, it was Assemblymember Bonnie Lowenthal who scored an endorsement from Governor Jerry Brown this morning.

“Bonnie Lowenthal has the experience, the vision, and the independence to be a great mayor,” said Brown in a statement.

The long-time Long Beach resident, whose name and family has a rich political history in Long Beach, adds this her list of endorsements that also the Democratic Party and The Sierra Club.

“I am honored to be supported by Governor Jerry Brown. Together, we passed the first balanced budget with a surplus in over a decade, increased funding to local schools, and returned millions in tax dollars to cities like Long Beach,” said Lowenthal in a press release. “I will take that same independent, problem-solving approach to address our challenges here in Long Beach.”
