A car crash that occurred at the intersection of Carson Street and San Anseline Avenue resulted in the death of one male and minor injuries of a female, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).

According to a release issued Monday by the LBPD, officers were dispatched at 12:01AM Saturday morning regarding an injury traffic collision, where they discovered a 2004 Honda Civic with major damage upon arrival on the north side of Carson Street, and a motorcycle with major damage in the center divider on San Anseline Avenue.

At the same time, they discovered a male lying on the roadway. The Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) Paramedics responded and determined the motorcyclist deceased at the scene, according to the release.

An investigation of the incident revealed the driver of the Honda Civic was traveling westbound on Carson Street in the #2 lane when it was rear ended by the driver of the 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle.

An eyewitness reported the motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed, and as a result, the Honda Civic veered off the roadway, striking a block wall. According to the release, the driver of the vehicle, a 26-year-old resident of Lakewood sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital by the LBFD.

The motorcyclist is not being identified, pending notification of next of kin.
