Weekend Unlimited, a New York based company that specializes in CBD (cannabidiol) products, has announced that it is opening its first U.S. concept store, WKND!, in Long Beach on April 20, the unofficial national holiday for weed aficionados.

The two-story, 5,000 square-foot shop will open at 1043 Pine Ave., in a former medical building near St. Mary Medical Center and will offer a wide range of CBD products including edibles, lotions and extracts, while the store’s upstairs portion will serve as a lounge with a hemp smoothie bar, coffee and CBD edibles as well as a venue for community outreach and educational seminars.

CBD is a naturally occurring compound found in the resinous flower of cannabis without the highs that accompany the use of marijuana and has been touted for its medicinal uses on people and pets. It has been increasingly available to the public, especially with pharmacy mega-chain CVS offering it now in eight states, including California.
