UPDATE 10:38AM  |  Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) spokeswoman Marlene Arrona told the Post in an email that at this time, the LBPD believes the suspect left the location with the children prior to officers’ arrival.

The suspect is the 30-year-old father of the three children, all under the age of 10, who reside at the home with them and their mother. The suspect’s identity is not being released at this time. There is no history of abuse involving the suspect and his children and the mother doesn’t believe they are in danger, said Arrona.

The LBPD did not have information leading them to believe that any weapons were involved, and said that SWAT was activated as a precaution.

Domestic violence detectives will be following up in an effort to locate the suspect.

We will update the story as we learn more.

PREVIOUSLY: SWAT Deployed to Early Morning Standoff After Receiving Domestic Violence Complaint

9:57AM  |  A SWAT team was deployed today to the scene of a standoff on the 900 block of Cerritos Avenue that began around 12:30AM, following a domestic violence complaint, said Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) spokeswoman Nancy Pratt.

Pratt said a woman was able to exit the residence from which the call came, while police believed a male suspect remained inside. The SWAT team was activated as a precaution, according to Pratt, while residents in adjacent properties were evacuated to a nearby school.

The SWAT team remained outside the residence believed to still house the domestic violence suspect, but the man was gone when officers entered and searched the dwelling this morning at approximately 6:30AM, police said. The evacuation order was lifted at that time and residents were able to return to their homes. The investigation remains ongoing.

We will update the story as we learn more.
