Two vehicles collided with a Long Beach police car that was stopped at a stop sign at Elm Avenue and Market Street this afternoon, according to police officials. No injuries were reported.

Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) Sgt. Bradley Johnson said the stopped police car was hit at around 2:25PM, facing south bound Elm Avenue at Market Street, when a two-door Acura, moving north bound on Elm crossing Market was hit by a four-door Volkswagon Jetta sedan traveling westbound on Market Street.

Johnson said the collision’s impact resulted in two vehicles colliding with the stopped police car.

Because one car contained a small child, Long Beach fire was requested to respond. Upon arrival, fire officials determined there were no injuries at the scene.

Johnson said it is unknown who is at fault in the incident and if anyone will be cited.

The investigation is ongoing.
