Gary Dean Nagata, son of Sam and Rose Nagata, beloved husband, brother and uncle passed away peacefully on March 6th, 2020 having suffered a stroke several weeks prior. He had just turned 58 in February.
Born and raised in Gardena, Gary graduated from Gardena High School and then studied computer sciences at Long Beach State. Shortly after graduation he married Donna Moromisato and they moved to Chicago while Donna finished Dental school. Afterwards they moved back to Southern California for Gary to continue his career in computer systems and for Donna to practice Dentistry. Gary served as a lector at Our Lady of Refuge church for 20 years and continued to pursue his passion for fishing, while developing home improvement skills and cooking talents that his family very much appreciated and enjoyed. He also grew to love baseball while attending nearly all of his nephew Owen’s games and engaged in whatever hobby or collectibles captured his niece, Lily’s fancy. He and Donna enjoyed using their Disneyland annual passes for many years and traveled regularly to Hawaii and spent several weekends every year in Vegas enjoying the food, shopping, and shows.
Gary is survived by Donna, his mother Rose, brother Russell, sibling in-laws Diane (Matt), Eric, Mark, Paul (Kristine), and David (Laura), and the joys of his life nephew Owen and niece Lily.
Due to the pandemic, a private service and burial will be held for immediate family only.
