The victim, 57-year-old Victor Talavera of Long Beach, had been trying to prevent a man from robbing items from the store near the intersection of Anaheim Street and Magnolia Avenue on the night of July 24, according to police.
As of Wednesday, there were 1,538 people hospitalized in the county due to coronavirus, with 32% of them in intensive care units and 19% on ventilators.

Renters who receive subsidies under Section 8 are not eligible.
Several community members who spoke said the plan doesn’t go far enough to defund the police department.
