Ride, Walk or Skate the Toyota Grand Prix Track Before the Drivers Do

 Grand-Prix-View-Map rev

Not only will Beach Streets close down Atlantic Avenue for a day, but the Open Street event series will pave the way for cyclists, inline skaters, pedestrians and joggers to see the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach track up close and personally. In cooperation with the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach, the City of Long Beach invites you to hit the pavement before the race cars scream through so you can experience the track like the drivers do on Tuesday, April 7.

04-18-13-Grand-Prix-View-1From 11:30AM to 1:00PM, walk, jog, ride or skate and experience the twists and turns at your own pace, check out the tire tracks, and perhaps imagine yourself rumbling through the famed 1.5 mile, 6-turn circuit during your own race. The track encircles the Long Beach Convention Center and runs down the scenic Shoreline Dr. and Seaside way, giving Grand Prix enthusiasts a chance to see the sights that the drivers won’t, because, and we hope, they’ll be paying more attention to the road in front of them.

No motorized vehicles or animals will be allowed on the track with the exception of service animals. Participants must stay within the coned area, while access to the track will be available at designated entry points located on the map. The event is free and open to the public with parking available for a fee in the Terrace Parking Structure, but hey, why not ride your bicycle to the event?
