Special Olympics Southern California and Long Beach Unified School District partnered up Friday to host the Long Beach Spring School Games at Jordan High School for special needs students.

Jordan High hosted LB Spring School Games for the first time this year, which offered sports training and athletic competition programs for students with intellectual disabilities and other special needs.

Over 10 schools came together for the Special Olympics programs, including Dooley Elementary, Newcomb Academy, Cabrillo High, Stanford Middle, Stephens Middle and Millikan High.

Jordan High students volunteered at the event to support and guide the participants on throwing soft balls and racing on the track field. Students received ribbons for participating in the race.
