Long Beach State head women’s basketball coach Jody Wynn has announced the 49ers’ schedule for the 2009-10 season.

“We are excited about our schedule, and we feel that it will help prepare us to reach our goals,” said Wynn. “Our philosophy is to improve each day and become a postseason team in March.”

The Beach, which will square off against four teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2008, opens the campaign against reigning Southwestern Athletic Conference champion Prairie View A&M at the Walter Pyramid on Friday, Nov. 13.

LBSU will also head to Florida in the first month of action when it takes part in the University of Miami Thanksgiving Tournament (Nov. 27-28).

Long Beach State then has a tough December as it is slated to face three Pac-10 teams and two NCAA Tournament participants. The 49ers are set to entertain USC on Dec. 3, before hitting the road to face Oregon (Dec. 6), Mountain West Conference regular season champion San Diego State (Dec. 11) and the University of San Diego (Dec. 13).

The Beach also welcomes Idaho (Dec. 20) and California (Dec. 21) to the Walter Pyramid in its final tune-up before opening Big West Conference action at home against UC Riverside on Jan. 2.
