The U.S. Men\u2019s A2 Volleyball Team (and its four Long Beach State alums) advanced to the semifinals of the 2010 Pan American Cup after sweeping Dominican Republic, 25-14, 25-18, 25-18 on Thursday in Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n
Team USA (3-0) will face Brazil (2-0) in Friday\u2019s first semifinal match at 7 p.m. ET. Puerto Rico (2-1) will play Argentina (2-0) at 9 p.m.<\/p>\n
Long Beach State alum Robert Tarr was second on the team with 11 points on six kills, a match-high three blocks and two aces. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe Americans were the superior team by far,\u201d Dominican Head Coach Jacinto Campechano said. \u201cThey dictated the game with their serves and didn\u2019t let us play. We need to be more consistent but to get that we also need to play more international matches.\u201d<\/p>\n
Among other U.S. scorers, 49er Dean Bittner, who shared time at opposite with Clark, scored seven points on six kills and one ace. <\/p>\n
