Lakewood def. Millikan 25-18, 17-25, 29-27, 25-19<\/span><\/p>\n

Ladies and gents, this thing ain’t over yet.  <\/span>Lakewood’s win over Millikan not only avenges the Lancers’ first-round sweep at the hands of the Rams, it throws the league finish back into question.  <\/span>With one game remaining, these two teams are now tied for third place\u2014because there are six teams in the league who compete in boys’ volleyball, there are only three spots for the playoffs.  <\/span>Since both teams play tough opponents on Thursday (Millikan facing Poly, Lakewood facing Wilson), it’s very possible they could both lose and force a one-match playoff.  <\/span>If they’re still tied, that playoff will be on Friday, and we’ll update you on time and place if necessary.  <\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

For the Lancers on Tuesday, Lucas Tate went into beast mode with 18 kills, backed up by Brian Iglesias with 10 digs, Anthony Rodriguez and Zach Perez with 7 kills each, and DJ Puente with 2 kills and 5 blocks.<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Poly def. Jordan 25-14, 25-20, 25-20<\/o:p><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Rabbits kept the loss tidy column with ease, officially clinching the league title by maintaining a two-match lead on Wilson, with just one league match left.  <\/span>The leaders for Poly were Jolon Clark with 9 kills and 5 blocks and Johnny Em, the freshman, with 8 kills and 2 blocks.<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Wilson def. Cabrilo 25-10, 25-15, 25-12<\/o:p><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Bruins sewed up second place with a win over the Jags on the road.  <\/span>Cory Leckie had 29 assists, 1 kill, 2 blocks, and 2 aces; Jake MacRae had 11 kills, 1 block, and 5 aces; Brandon Fuimaono had 9 kills, 10 digs, and 1 ace (in just two games); Pat Maramba had 8 digs; and Frankie Nagao had 6 digs.<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Over the weekend, the Bruins took fifth in the Redondo\/Mira Costa Varsity Classic.  <\/span>They beat Oxnard, South Torrance, and Servite in pool play, then beach Rancho Bernardo in the playoffs, before losing to Valencia (who face Mira Costa in the finals).  <\/span>They topped La Costa Canyon in the fifth place match\u2014Cory Leckie made the all-tourney team.<\/o:p><\/p>\n
