Report by LBSU<\/span><\/p>\n The Long Beach State track and field team had 11 athletes score with top eight finishes on the first day of the Cal-Nevada Championships at UCLA’s Drake Stadium.<\/p>\n Sam Jeter led the men with a first-place performance in the 400-meter hurdle prelims as he clocked in with a lifetime-best 52.16. Kenneth Medwood wasn’t far behind in third, notching a Big West qualifying mark of 52.56. Both Jeter and Medwood will compete in the finals on Sunday.<\/p>\n Nimrod Piggee also advanced to tomorrow’s 110m hurdle finals with a sixth-place showing (14.56) in the preliminary round.<\/p>\n Richard Crawford added a lifetime-best and conference qualifying mark of 21.94 in the 200-meter dash, while Jonathan Evans also had a season-low 1:53.95 in the 800m.<\/p>\n Over in the field events, The Beach had three scorers in the high jump. Alex Black led the way with a runner-up performance, clearing 6-08.75, while Kevin Jenkins (6-06.75) and Nicholas Armstrong (6-04.75) claimed sixth and seventh, respectively.<\/p>\n Danny Bang led a trio of 49ers in the long jump, taking third overall with a personal-record 23-00.50.
