The Long Beach State track and field team concluded action at the Trojan Invitational Saturday at USC’s Loker Stadium. <\/o:p><\/p>\n

Brett Hasvold won the 3000-meter run with a time of 8:42.25, while Raul Arcos (8:54.17) and Jacob Ainsworth (8:56.23) took fourth and fifth, respectively. Kenneth Medwood also had a pair of top 10 finishes in the 200m (21.98) and 400m (48.44). <\/o:p><\/p>\n

Nimrod Piggee placed sixth in the 110m hurdles, crossing the finish line in 14.40 seconds. In the 400m hurdles, Sam Jeter clocked in at 53.06 to claim fourth. <\/o:p><\/p>\n

The quartet of Medwood, Chris Sweeney, Richard Crawford and Jeter also finished fourth overall in the 4x400m relay (3:16.75). <\/o:p><\/p>\n

In the field events, the 49ers had a 1-2 finish in the high jump (section A) as Nicholas Armstrong won the event with a height of 6-10.75, while Alex Black took second. <\/o:p><\/p>\n

Danny Bang (22-01) and Cameron Gillett (21-06) claimed the top two spots in the long jump (section B) and Kevin Jenkins earned runner-up honors in the triple jump with a leap of 45-06.50. <\/o:p><\/p>\n

Cesar Puga won his section of the shot put with a distance of 52-02.50, while Peter Fourtounis took third (50-11.50). Puga also had a fifth-place finish in the discus (173-05). <\/o:p><\/p>\n

In the hammer throw, LBSU swept the medal honors in section B with Bains leading the way at 177-03. Fourtounis (167-09) and Puga (164-10) were not far behind in second and third, respectively. <\/o:p><\/p>\n

On the women’s side, Missy Barclay clocked in at 10:17.23 in the 3000-meter run to finish third overall. Prism Garcia (10:35.89) and Veronica Franco (10:39.39) also placed eighth and ninth. Kristen Kiefer notched a top 10 finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 64.50. <\/o:p><\/p>\n

In the high jump, Taylor O’Conner took fifth (5-07), while Katrina Graves-Johnson tied for sixth (5-05). Kayla Kamaka also placed eighth in the pole vault, clearing 11-09.75. <\/o:p><\/p>\n

Randi Hicks led the throwers with a third-place performance in the javelin (160-07). <\/o:p><\/p>\n

Long Beach State returns to action next weekend when it sends a split squad to the Cal-Nevada Championships (March 27-28) and the Stanford Invitational (March 26-27). <\/o:p><\/p>\n
